Help Wanted (Yes, Really)

This campaign runs on a candidate, his wife, a campaign manager, and a handful of people who know more than he does about their own subjects. Nobody is paid, including him. We’re not taking donations — but that doesn’t mean we can’t use help. Volunteer labor doesn’t count as a campaign expense under federal law, which means people pitching in doesn’t push us anywhere near the $5,000 threshold that would force this into full committee registration. So: here’s where you can actually help.

What would actually help

We need real photos

Because we promised our harshest critics, our kids, that we would not use a single AI-generated image in this campaign. We do use AI-generated videos, because we have no money to make up real ads and no time to shoot our own — but images are a hard line. So right now, a lot of this site is running on “Not AI Generated” placeholder boxes instead of actual pictures.

We are not optimistic anyone will actually take us up on this. But if you’d like to help make this site look at least partway finished — with real photos or illustrations done by a real human — by all means get in touch. We’d genuinely love the help, and we can talk about credit. Until then, enjoy the negative space. We’re calling it a design choice.

What we won’t ask you for

Money. We’re not taking donations. This comes out of the candidate’s own pocket, which is a decision made on purpose and intended to keep. If you had something set aside for a campaign this year, spend it on yourself or your community instead. That’s the actual ask.

One rule

If money ever needs to change hands — even to a family member’s own business — that becomes a real campaign expenditure and goes on the public ledger, the same as everything else. Volunteer labor stays volunteer labor. That’s what keeps this simple, and it’s what keeps it honest.

How to reach us

Email info@votetucson.org and tell us what you’re willing to do. No pressure, and no ask bigger than what you’re comfortable with. A real person reads it — there is nobody here whose job is screening things.

If you’d rather use a form, connect with us here. You can also call or text the candidate directly at (520) 261-1187.
